I am a sophomore at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, where I am working towards a degree in International Studies, Economics, and History. I am passionate about creating opportunities for people and communities around the world to advance economically regardless of where they come from, which is why I am so grateful to support the mission of WorldWise Microfinance as an intern this spring. I love connecting with people of various identities and backgrounds, and as a member of the communications team I will be engaging with our local community and sharing stories of WorldWise microloan recipients from around the world.
After earning my degree, I plan to attend graduate school and eventually work in international economic development. My goal is to spend my life doing everything I can to increase equity in the global economy and empower people who have good ideas to make them happen no matter their nationality or ethnicity. I believe that WorldWise is a great organization with people who share these goals and contribute to my development while working together to help people from all over the world to start, grow, and strengthen their businesses.
This internship is an incredible opportunity for me to develop skills in public outreach, grow my understanding of economic growth and challenges abroad, and support a cause that empowers people to build sustainable success for themselves and their communities. I am excited to be working with an amazing team to share stories of the impact of microfinance and the impact that people can have on their own long-term success if they are given a chance.
Fun fact: If I have any free time in the winter, I am using it to go snowshoeing!
